Davis cup is not the only annual feature that marks Indian Tennis. Lashing out at the AITA also is part of the Tennis Calendar every year. The AITA has been known to be dictatorial, and adopting a divide and rule policy, as perceived by its own athletes. 'They could have handled things much better, they are just not interested in growing tennis in India', alleges Somdev Devvarman. A National Sport Federation exists for the athlete and its job is to grow the sport in India. Is the AITA fit enough to grow Tennis in India. Is it being controlled by a few individuals who want to continue irrespective of any contribution to the sport! Should A federation that is viewed with scant respect by its own athletes, be given an annual recognition by the Sports Ministry. Its time for the Ministry to draw more objective parameters for recognition of NSF's in India. An appraisal by the athlete may go a long way in making India a fitter nation!
