Tennis News : Stephens reaches final after opponent Kalinskaya retires through injury

Sloane Stephens will contest the WTA Akron Zapopan Open after opponent Anna Kalinskaya was forced to retire from their semi-final with a back injury.

Kalinskaya had taken the first set comfortably but had started to struggle in the second set, which Stephens won 7-5.

And immediately after the second set had concluded, Kalinskaya came over to shake Stephens' hand while conceding the game.

American Stephens will now play the winner of the other semi-final between Marie Bouzkova (Czech Republic) and Qiang Wang (China).
