Tennis News : FFT President Moretton sorry and sad' after Osaka's withdrawal

Gilles Moretton, the President of the French Federation of Tennis (FFT) gave a statement on Monday (31st May) following Naomi Osaka's decision to withdraw from the tournament. The world number two announced her decision earlier on Monday, having already stated her intention not to speak to the media during the tournament. She won her opening match on Sunday (30th May) beating Patricia Maria Tig in straight sets, but was fined $15,000 USD for her refusal to do post-match media. In her statement, Osaka cited bouts of depression as her motivation for taking the stand.
