Tennis News : 20-time Grand Slam champ Nadal pulls out of Wimbledon and Olympics

Rafael Nadal has withdrawn from this month's Wimbledon Championships and the upcoming Olympic Games in Tokyo. The 20-time Grand Slam champion, who won the Wimbledon titles in 2008 and 2010, said he needs to "recuperate after a long clay-court season" and cited the short turnaround between the clay and grass-court campaigns as a key factor behind his decision. This year, there are only two weeks between the French Open finishing on the clay and Wimbledon starting on the grass where, usually, there would be three weeks between the two majors. Nadal failed in his bid to claim a record-extending 14th Roland Garros title as the Spaniard lost to world number one Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals of this year's French Open. Djokovic can equal Nadal and Roger Federer's Grand Slam mark of 20 with victory at Wimbledon.
