Tennis: Garcia crushes Pavlyuchenkova 6-2, 6-0 in Dubai first round

Number 14 seed Caroline Garcia of France cruised into the second round of the Dubai Duty Free championship in the United Arab Emirates, following a comprehensive 6-2, 6-0 victory over Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. After dropping her first service game at the start of the match, Garcia totally dominated her Russian opponent, who hindered her own cause with seven double faults and a first serve points won percentage of just 48 per cent. It was all over in 63 minutes - American qualifier Jennifer Brady awaits Garcia in round two. The world number 117 put out Jelena Ostapenko, ranked 22, 6-4, 6-0 in just 75 minutes earlier on Monday.
