Tennis: Fernandez beats Golubic to win first WTA title at Monterrey Open

Leylah Fernandez lifted her first WTA title after defeating Viktorija Golubic 6-1, 6-4 in Sunday's final of the Monterrey Open. The 18-year-old Canadian - the world number 86 - is on a rapid upwards trajectory. She pushed Petra Kvitova hard at last year's French Open, and had too much for Golubic, here in Mexico. Golubic - the world number 102 from Switzerland - had become the first qualifier to reach the final of the tournament.
