International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach remains fully committed to holding the Tokyo Olympics Games in 2021, although the 2022 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal have been postponed until 2026. The Tokyo Games were postponed for 12 months in March due to the coronavirus pandemic, but doubts remain over the ability to stage the event in 2021. After Wednesday's IOC executive board meeting, Bach told media that a joint taskforce is looking into all possible scenarios for hosting the XXXII (32nd) Olympiad, although holding the games behind closed doors is seemingly not an option. Bach also said that the Dakar Youth Games, which would have been the first Olympic event to be held in Africa, will be pushed back by four years as planning has been severely affected by the postponement of the Tokyo Games.
