The former Open champion fired nine birdies and nine pars in his flawless round and leads by one shot from Zambia's Madalitso Muthiya and American Kurt Kitayama, winner of last week's Mauritius Open. Another South African, Zander Lombard shot a 64 to lie two shots back - one ahead of a group including England's Matt Wallace, a three-time winner on the European Tour in 2018.
