Sydney FC shot to the top of the Australian A-League standings on Friday with a 5-2 thrashing of bottom side Central Coast Mariners. It didn't look that way in the beginning though as the Mariners took an early lead through Connor Pain. However, after Kalifa Cisse picked up a second yellow card and was sent off in the 26th minute, it all went downhill for the visitors. Sydney played at full throttle in the second half and turned the game around.A hat-trick from Alex Brosque and an Adam Le Fondre penalty put the Sky Blues 4-1 ahead, before Aiden O'Neill managed to pull one back for the visitors. Aaron Calver finished off the match with a volley as Sydney FC won 5-2 and overtook Perth Glory as the new leaders of the A-League.
