Despite signing Joao Felix on a loan for the remainder of the season, it is said that Chelsea are still interested in bringing Marcus Thuram. Felix's transfer to the Blues from Atletico Madrid was officially announced on Wednesday, with Graham Potter's team winning the bidding.
Fabrizio Romano, an Italian journalist, claims that the club's ambitions for Thuram, who they continue to be interested in signing, have not changed as a result of Felix's move.
The 25-year- old's Borussia Monchengladbach contract is set to expire at the end of June, therefore he is free to speak with international teams this month about a summer transfer.
Gladbach is rumoured to be unwilling to lose Thuram on a free transfer in the middle of 2023, thus they may be open to selling him for a discount during the January transfer window.
In 17 games this season for his German club, the attacker, who competed for France at the 2022 World Cup, has tallied 13 goals and four assists. Since joining Gladbach from Guingamp in 2019, Thuram has amassed a total of 119 appearances, 41 goals, and 26 assists.
Chelsea has had trouble in the Premier League this year; after 17 games, they have collected a total of 25 points, which puts them in 10th place overall.
In England's premier division in 2022-23, the Blues only managed to score 20 goals, with Raheem Sterling and Kai Havertz sharing the lead with four goals each.
Though the 33-year-old Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has only scored once in the Premier League this year, there are now rumours about his future.
The former Gabon international is thought to be open to a return to Camp Nou, and Romano has stated that Barcelona "would love" to re-sign him this month.
Memphis Depay, who is frequently linked to Atletico Madrid, is reportedly the only player who could join Xavi's team if Memphis Depay left.
This month, Man United has also been linked with Thuram, but the Red Devils are reportedly more interested in signing Wout Weghorst on a season-long loan from Burnley.
Meanwhile, Matty Cash of Aston Villa has reportedly become a target for Chelsea this month.
