Football News: Arsenal to battle with Liverpool for Bayern Munich midfielder this summer

Arsenal are allegedly set to compete with Liverpool for Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch.

During his time with Ajax, the Dutchman established an amazing reputation, scoring 12 goals and assisting 13 times in 103 matches. Gravenberch's brilliant performance won him a move to Bayern Munich last summer.

However, he is yet to make an impact in his short time with the German champions. The Netherlands international has only started one of his 17 Bundesliga outings this season.

Thus, rumours are up in the air that the Ex-Ajax player could leave to gain more playing time. Liverpool are said to be one of his admirers, as the Reds want to revamp their midfield in the summer transfer window.

Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are poised to leave when their contracts expire in June, and James Milner might move on a free transfer if he does not sign a new contract.

If the Reds opt to pursue Gravenberch, they may face opposition from the current Premier League leaders.

Arsenal are keeping an eye on the 20-year-old's position at Bayern, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg.

Although no talks have taken place between the two teams, there is speculation that the Gunners, despite having a plethora of midfield options, may grant Gravenberch more playing time.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta presently has Martin Odegaard, Granit Xhaka, Thomas Partey, and January signing Jorginho at his disposal.

However, they are looking to bolster their midfield in the summer, and Gravenberch could be a viable option if they fail to sign West Ham United's Declan Rice, who is their top goal.

According to a recent rumor, luring Gravenberch away from the Bundesliga club may be difficult now that Thomas Tuchel has replaced Julian Nagelsmann as manager.

Tuchel is eager to give Gravenberch an opportunity, and the former Chelsea manager will ultimately decide whether he stays or leaves in the summer.
Gravenberch is anticipated to be on the bench when Bayern face Manchester City in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final encounter on Tuesday evening, having appeared as a substitute in two of Tuchel's first three games in charge.
