According to reports, Arsenal and Manchester United have been given the opportunity to recruit Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix on a temporary loan for the rest of the season.
The 23-year-old's relationship with Atletico head coach Diego Simeone appears to have ended, and he appears ready to depart Wanda Metropolitano before the end of the month. The Portuguese national team has been connected with a number of clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich, but the Premier League is regarded to have the biggest interest given that both
Arsenal and Manchester United are expected to be looking for new strikers in the coming months. Felix's permanent transfer is improbable because Atletico reportedly wants more than €100 million (£85.9 million) for the attacker, but the Daily Record claims that a loan move is feasible.
According to the report, the Red and Whites are willing to let him go temporarily as long as his salary is fully paid for the rest of the year. There would reportedly be no commitment to make the transfer permanent at the conclusion of the season, but Atletico would demand an £8 million loan fee.
Following Gabriel Jesus's knee injury, Arsenal is looking for a new attacker, and Man United is searching for a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, whose contract was cancelled at the end of November.
Felix might depart Wanda Metropolitano in January, according to recent comments made by Atletico CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin.
"[Joao Felix] is the biggest bet this club has taken in its history. I personally think he's a top talent, a world-class player,"
Gil Marin told TVE last month.
"For reasons it isn't worth getting into - the relationship between him and the boss (Simeone), the minutes played, his motivation right now - it makes you think that the reasonable thing is that if there's an option that's good for the player, good for the club, we can look at it."
"I'd love him to stay personally, but I don't think that's the player's idea."
Simeone, the manager of Atletico, has stated that nobody is necessary and that events would unfold as they must. For us, it is incredibly significant. He had a successful World Cup, contributing to goals as the coach had emphasised.
"Hopefully we can have the best Joao who he saw himself in the World Cup. Hopefully we also give him that peace of mind and joy to show in the game all that was seen in the World Cup."
During the 2022-23 season, Felix has struggled to make an impact for the capital giants, managing just four goals and three assists in 18 appearances across all competitions.
