First half goals from Gonzalo Cabrera and Safawi Rasid gave Johor Darul Ta'zim a 2-1 victory over previously unbeaten Melaka United to lift the defending champions level at the top of the Malaysian Super League with Kedah on 10 points. Johor opened on a Cabrera penalty in the 35th minute then doubled Rasid just before intermission to give the hosts a 2-0 lead at halftime. Philippines international Patrick Reichelt reduced the deficit for Melaka midway through the second half, but Johor held on to record their third win in four League games.
