England Women - Changing the game The Lionesses may have lost in the World cup semi-final but their run was nothing but impressive...smashing TV viewing figures. 3rd August 2017 - Netherlands 3-0 England The record for an England Women's game prior to the World Cup was an audience of 4million in the 2017 Euros semi-final defeat. 9th June 2019 - England 2-1 Scotland England's opening game smashed British TV viewing figures for a women's football match with an audience of 6.1million. 23rd June 2019 - England 3-0 Cameroon For a second time, England broke the record, attracting an audience of 6.9million for their round of 16 wins. 27th jJune 2019 - England 3-0 Norway In the Lionesses quarter-final victory, they again had the nation behind them, with viewing figures of 7.6million. 2nd July 2019 - England 1-2 United States Despite losing, the Lionesses had a peak audience of 11.7million in their semi-final, the most watched TV programme of the year.
