Football: Conte opens up on Pirlo appointment as new Juventus boss

On the eve of Monday's Europa League quarter-final against German outfit Bayer Leverkusen, Inter Milan head coach Antonio Conte and goalkeeper Samir Handanovic shared their throughts with the media. Inter are aiming to cap their recent resurgence with a first trophy in nine years. No Italian club has won this competition since Parma won what was then the UEFA Cup back in 1999. The 'Nerazzurri' (Black and Blues) are unbeaten in nine matches in all competitions, haven't conceded a goal in their last 5 and have lost just once in 15 since the season restart. Antonio Conte's side got to this point by beating Getafe of Spain 2-0 in a knockout last 16 match on Wednesday. That game was played over a single leg at the Arena AufSchalke in Gelsenkirchen because it wasn't possible to complete a first leg in March before the competition was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic. All remaining Europa League matches from the quarter-finals onwards will also be played under a knockout tournament format in Germany - and without spectators.
