Football : Benfica overcome resilient Guimaraes 1-0 in Portuguese Primeira Liga

Benfica responded to Porto's earlier thrashing of bottom club Chaves with a hard-fought 1-0 victory at Vitoria Guimaraes in the Portuguese Primeira Liga. Haris Seferovic scored the only goal of the game in the 81st minute after he tapped in Andre Almeida's cross from the right. It marked the Swiss forward's eighth league goal of the season.Chances were few and far between for both sides throughout.Benfica's Joao Felix and Guimaraes' Alexandre Guedes had chances in the first-half, but neither home goalkeeper Douglas Jesus nor visiting shot-stopper Odisseas Vlachodimos were overly troubled until Seferovic struck.
