Football: Alex Morgan to leave Tottenham Women and return to USA in New Year

Two-time World Cup winner Alex Morgan has confirmed she will leave Tottenham Women and return to the USA in the New Year. Morgan joined Tottenham from National Women's Soccer League side Orlando Pride in September. The 31-year-old made five appearances and scored twice in the Women's Super League (WSL). Morgan told the club's website, "thank you to everyone who helped make this chapter in my soccer journey so special." The forward, who has represented her country 170 times, used her time at Tottenham to regain match fitness after she gave birth in May. Morgan leaves Tottenham at the halfway stage of the WSL season - they are currently eighth in the 12-team division and have won only two of their nine league games played so far.
