Football: Al Jaish beat Al Wehdat 1-0 to move top of Group A in the AFC Cup

Ahmad Ashkar scored the only goal of the game to send Al Jaish to the top of Group A in the AFC Cup following their 1-0 win over Al Wehdat. Both sides were unbeaten in the previous two rounds in the group, with Al Wehdat arriving at the Sheikh Ali bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Stadium top ahead of second-placed Al Jaish in what was the first meeting between the two teams in the AFC Cup. The Jordanian side dominated the field in the first half but neither were able to break the deadlock. It was the Syrian side that found the back of the net in the 72nd minute as Ashkar scored the only goal of the game. The result sees Al Jaish leapfrog AL Wehdat to the top of Group A with seven points, one ahead of Al Wehdat.
