Former India international Virender Sehwag believes Virat Kohli will hold the World Cup trophy on November 19 in Ahmedabad.
Notably, he recalled that in 2011, under MS Dhoni's leadership, all of the players were keen to win in order to celebrate Sachin Tendulkar's famous career, and he wants the Men in Blue to do the same for Virat Kohli in the forthcoming edition.
Speaking on the subject, Sehwag stated that Kohli deserves to end his career on a high note, and winning the World Cup will be the cherry on top of his illustrious career.
Sehwag went on to say that Virat knows how to perform under pressure and that he expects him to step up if India advances to the competition's finals.
"We played that World Cup for Tendulkar. If we won the World Cup, it would have been a great exit for Sachin paaji. Virat Kohli is the same now. Everybody will look to win the World Cup for him. He always gives more than 100 percent,"
Sehwag told Star Sports.
"I think Virat Kohli is also looking to this World Cup. 100,000 people will watch you at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Virat knows how the pitches will behave. I am sure he will score a lot of runs and he will do his best to win the World Cup for India,"
he added.
Notably, Virat has regained his form after a rocky few of years spent searching for it on the international circuit. He was absolutely outstanding in the previous Asia Cup and T20 World Cup editions and will be hoping to replicate that form in the showpiece ODI tournament.
In the recently finished Indian Premier League, the batsman rose to the occasion once more, and if he can maintain his form, India might win their third ODI World Cup.
Meanwhile, the Rohit Sharma-led team will begin their journey to the 2017 ODI World Cup with a three-match ODI series against the West Indies. Many players are currently ailing, so there are some concerns, but the team will be optimistic about finishing the competition.
