Cricket News : Rohit Sharma ruled out of first Test against Bangladesh

The first Test between India and Bangladesh will begin on Wednesday, but India's skipper Rohit Sharma won't be available for selection, since he's still receiving treatment for a thumb injury he suffered earlier this week.

Abhimanyu Easwaran has been called up and the BCCI medical staff will assess his thumb injury to see whether he can play in the second Test.

Rohit spoke with a specialist in Mumbai, according to a press release from the BCCI on Sunday, and is working to get healthy enough to join the team for the second Test, which begins on December 22.

The board's medical staff will make the final determination about his availability. Abhimanyu Easwaran, who was captaining India A in Bangladesh, would likely start the batting in Rohit's absence, along with KL Rahul, the acting captain, and Shubman Gill following.

For the whole tour, Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shamihave been declared ineligible due to ongoing shoulder and knee problems.
