Cricket News : KL Rahul set to miss West Indies T20I series

At the moment, India are having a thrilling ODI series against West Indies. While the Men in Blue have already sealed the series by winning the initial 2 fixtures out of the 3 but no doubt fans are loving the enthralling batlle.

Both the matches kept fans on the edge of their seats as the two contests went on to the last over of the match. Meanwhile, India have been facing issues with their upper order batters with one of the renowned names Kohli, who dealing with a bad run of form while KL Rahul still needs time to recover.

KL Rahul is not likely to make the five-match T20I series trip to the West Indies as originally planned. Even though Rahul's isolation period-he tested positive for Covid-19 last week-ends today, the BCCI's medical staff has urged him to take another week off to rest and recover.

Rahul underwent sports hernia surgery in late June and has since been rehabilitating at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. Even if he gave the two required negative tests, it was clear that he was a question for the T20I phase of the West Indies tour.

Rahul might have been selected for the August 6-7 USA leg of the West Indies Twenty20 Internationals, depending on the results of his cardiovascular tests.

The World Cup Super League ODIs in Zimbabwe will take priority over the tour, it now seems certain that he will skip it entirely. As the tournament's hosts, India has already earned a spot in the 2023 ODI World Cup.

Less than a week will pass between the conclusion of the ODI series and the commencement of the 2022 Asia Cup, which will take place in the UAE from August 27 to September 11.

Rishabh Pant may have a longer stint as the opener as a result of Rahul's absence. While Ishan Kishan, India's backup wicketkeeper, is also on the team-sheet.

Since the IPL 2022 Eliminator on May 25, when his club, the Lucknow Super Giants, fell to Royal Challengers Bangalore in Kolkata, Rahul has not participated in any competitive cricket.
