Chennai beat Kolkata by 6 wickets in Dubai as Ravindra Jadeja played a scintillating 11-ball 31 run knock. Kolkata opener Nitish Rana scored a valiant 87 off 61 balls which helped Kolkata to a decent 172/5. Chennai won the toss and put Kolkata to bat first. Kolkata got off to a fine start as openers Shubman Gill and Rana added 53 runs for the opening wicket. Chasing the 173-run target, Chennai started the proceedings cautiously with opener Shane Watson and Ruturaj Gaikwad, adding 44 runs in the initial six overs. Varun Chakravarthy dismissed Shane Watson. Ambati Rayudu and Ruturaj Gaikwad steadied the ship with a 68-run partnership, helping Chennai cross the first three-digit mark in 12 overs. Chakravarthy further jolted Chennai when he castled Dhoni for 1 in the next over before Cummins sent back a well-settled Ruturaj to help KKR make a comeback in the contest. Ruturaj's knock contained six boundaries and a couple of sixes. Chennai suffered a mini middle-order collapse where 143/4 wickets at the end of the 18th over.
