Cricket News: India lose top spot as ICC reverses Test rankings within hours

In a series of dramatic events, Australia overcame India to retake first place in the ICC Men's Test Team Rankings. India's loss of the top rank to Australia, a challenger for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

The ICC recently updated their points table for the Men's Test Team Rankings and shockingly they placed India at 2nd. Australia are currently leading the pack once more with 3668 points in 29 games and a rating of 126. While India have slipped to second place with a rating of 115. India has played in 32 games and now has 3690 points.

However, after the ICC updated its rankings earlier in the day, India held the top spot across all three formats. Several magazines even ran articles praising India's accomplishments globally in Tests, T20 Internationals, and ODIs.

India was placed first in Test rankings according to the ICC website with 115 rating points, followed by Australia with 111 points. Hours later, the standings was refreshed, and Australia moved back to the top with 126 points, while India fell to second with 115 points.

As India hosts the Kangaroos for a four-match Test series at home, Australia and India are now involved in an intriguing Series. India currently has a 1-0 series lead thanks to their victory in the opening Test at Nagpur.

The Australian batting order was completely destroyed by India's spin attack, which was led by the spin twins Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin. Only the wicket-keeper batsman Alex Carey could offer some opposition to India's spin assault, aside from the duo of Steven Smith and Marnus Labuschagne.

Due to the other Australian hitters' lack of effort, India was able to establish an early series lead. Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, took the initiative and produced a match-winning century. Jadeja and Axar Patel each scored fifty runs, contributing to India's large 223-run advantage towards the conclusion of their first innings.

Australia failed to significantly improve in their second innings after being dismissed for 177 runs in the first, and they were severely hampered by Ashwin's five-wicket performance, which gave India a comprehensive victory. In their second innings, the Pat Cummins-led team was bowled out for just 91 runs. The second Test between India and the visitors will begin in Delhi on February 17.

Thus, if the Men in Blues come out victorious in the Delhi Test no one can stop them from touching the apex spot.
