The Board of Control for Cricket in India has announced the women’s squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, which is to commence from February 21 in Australia. Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the team for the mega event and Smriti Mandhana will act as her deputy. In a surprise, there is only one new face in the squad which is Bengal’s rookie batswoman Richa Ghosh. Also, 15-yr-old Shafali Verma will also be playing her first global meet following some impeccable performances at the international level in her first season. Despite the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020 happening in Australia, India captain Harmanpreet Kaur has said that spinners have been her side’s strength in bowling and it wouldn’t change much on the bouncier tracks.
