Olympics medallist and six time world champion boxer MC Mary Kom is assured of an 8th medal in World Women's Boxing Championships by entering the semi-final beating Ingrit Valencia Victor of Colombia with a unanimous 5:0 decision to enter the quarter-final played at Ulan-Ude in Russia. Mary Kom was chasing her first world championship medal in the 51 Kg weight category. The 3rd seed Mary Kom got the decision 29-28, 30-27, 29-28, 30-27, 29-28 in her favour. The 36 year old pugilist will now face second seed Busenaz Cakiroglu of Turkey on Saturday in the semifinals.
