India lost to Japan 29-120 in their first match of the FIBA Women’s Olympic Pre-qualifying tournament in Malaysia. India failed to capitalize on the court in every department as Japan showcased their master class performance and defeated India by a huge margin. None of the players from India could enter into a double-figure margin as Stephy Nixon remained the top scorer for India with mere 8 points. On the other hand, all the players from Japan scored baskets for their team. With the first match defeat, India will face Australia next on 16th November in their second match.
