Badminton News: Subhankar Dey wins SaarLorLux Open

Indian shuttler Subhankar Dey's fairytale run continued as he defeated Rajiv Ouseph 21-11, 21-14 to clinch the 2018 SaarLorLux Open in Germany. The 25-year-old needed just 33 minutes to triumph against the British no 1 in the final. The victory caps off a great week for Subhankar, who beat two-time Olympic gold medallist Lin Dan in straight games to reach the quarterfinal and termed the win against Dan very special. While in the semifinal Dey saved two match points against China’s Ren Pengbo before going on to beat the Chinese 21-18, 11-21, 24-22 and seal his berth in his second final of the year.
