Tennis News : Zverev speaks up for banned journalist at French Open

Alexander Zverev was caught in the centre of another story concerning the media at the French Open on Wednesday when the journalist who asked him a question from a supermarket after his first round match had his media pass withdrawn by organisers. Zverev spoke in defence of Jonathan Pinfield, the British journalist, who on Sunday asked Zverev via Zoom, what he could buy him from the supermarket he was in to celebrate his win over fellow German Oscar Otte. The pair had a memorable exchange at the French Open in 2018 which went viral on social media after Zverev was baffled by Pinfield's accent. French Open organisers failed to see the funny side of Pinfield's unorthodox questioning and removed his accreditation for the tournament. But after Zverev called Pinfield " a very nice guy", they restored Pinfield's access rights to the tournament's remote media conferences.
