The 39-year-old was chasing her 24th Grand Slam title, and the draw was seemingly opening up for the American, but the 21st seed from Kazakhstan overpowered Williams to set up a quarter final tie with 31st seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. Wimbledon will be the seventh seed's next chance to equal Margaret Court's record, when The Championships get under way on June 28th.
