The Indian Olympic Association continued to build pressure on the Commonwealth Games Federation over its decision to exclude shooting sport from the 2022 Birmingham Games by writing a letter to the sports minister, Kiren Rijiju, expressing the desire to pull out of the quadrennial event. In the mail, a copy of which is with Power Sportz, president Narinder Batra wrote and I quote"This is with reference to the press statement of Secretary-General IOA in the month of May 2019 regarding the intention of IOA to most probably not participate in CWG 2022. The issues have also been informally discussed by IOA amongst some of the colleagues in IOA and they also agree with the views expressed by IOA Secretary-General (Rajeev Mehta)." Ever since shooting sport was dropped from the 2022 CWG curriculum, voices of discontent have grown as the sport had given India 16 medals out of a total of 66 at the 2018 Gold Coast edition. Even shooters have voiced their opinions. Let’s listen in what India shooter Heena Sidhu said on this.
