Match 5 – GPCL: South African Emeralds thumps Irish Olives in a comfortable chase

The match no. 5 sees South African Emeralds locking horns with Irish Olives. The Irish won the toss and opted to bat first. Olives were on fire in the Powerplay thanks to Mackay, who scored 33 out of the total 35 in the first 3 overs.

Durness Mackay was firing all over the ground and as a result Irish Olives finished the Powerplay on a strong note with Mackay scoring around 90% of the runs.

South African Emeralds started the chase as if they wanted to finish the match in 10 overs. The Emeralds struck 62 runs in the first 4 overs with Robert approaching his half century. The opening duo looked dangerous and the Irish Olives bowlers were thrashed out of the park as after the powerplay the scoor stood at 77 for 0.

Irish bowlers were really hoping to get a ray of luck to turn their way. Thus, it eventually happened in the 10th over when Pavan took a wicket via wide ball. Robert and Waseem's 90 runs partnership came to an end with a stumping.

Soon after Waseem's departure, Robert to followed him scoring 69 of just 33 deliveries. But the damage was done until the opening pair was back in the pavilion.
