Football News : Villarreal celebrations continue as team get hero's return in Spain

After winning their first European title in a heart-stopping final against Manchester United in Poland on Wednesday, the players of Villarreal CF paraded on Thursday the streets of their home village in the autonomous region of Valencia. Thousands of supporters cheered the team as they passed on top of an open roof bus holding the Europa League trophy. Villarreal secured a lucrative Champions League spot for next season rather than playing in the new third-tier Europa Conference League after finishing seventh in the Spanish league. For Villarreal coach Unai Emery it was a record fourth Europa League title and offered a measure of redemption after he was fired by Arsenal last season. He won three Europa League titles in a row with Sevilla from 2014 through 2016 and lost the 2019 final with Arsenal against Chelsea.
