Football News: Real Madrid 'weighing up summer move for Andrew Robertson'

Real Madrid are allegedly interested in signing Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson this summer.

Ferland Mendy's future at Real Madrid remains uncertain, with the Frenchman potentially departing the club before the 2023-24 season.

Eduardo Camavinga has often been used as a left-back this season, but Los Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti is rumoured to want to bring the Frenchman back to his natural position in central midfield next season.

According to the Daily Mail, Real Madrid have identified Robertson as a prospective signing, with the Scotland international seen as a replacement for Alphonso Davies of Bayern Munich.

According to a recent source, Davies has surfaced as a legitimate target for Los Blancos, but Bayern are not willing to entertain offers for the Canada international.

Real Madrid is said to be willing to pay more than £40 million for Robertson, who is under contract at Anfield until the summer of 2026.

The left-back was once again an important player for Liverpool during the 2022-23 season, appearing on 43 times in all competitions and contributing 11 assists.

Since joining Jurgen Klopp's team from Hull City in July 2017, the defender has made 267 appearances, contributing eight goals and 63 assists.

During his time with Liverpool, Robertson won the Premier League, FA Cup, EFL Cup, and Champions League, as well as the Community Shield, UEFA Super Cup, and Club World Cup.

Liverpool, on the other hand, are in danger of missing out on Champions League participation next season, as they presently rank fifth in the Premier League table.

If Manchester United avoids defeat against Chelsea at Old Trafford on Thursday night, they will eliminate Liverpool's prospects of finishing in the top four.

Real Madrid will finish the season with only the Copa del Rey, having lost the La Liga title to Barcelona and losing in the Champions League semi-finals to Manchester City.
This season, Robertson has appeared on 34 occasions in the Premier League, contributing eight assists, while he has given two assists in five appearances in the 2022-23 Champions League.
