Football News : Real Madrid clinches their 5th UEFA Super Cup by defeating Eintracht Frankfurt

Real Madrid defeated Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 to win the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday night. The goals were scored by Karim Benzema and David Alaba.

Los Blancos participated in the one-off match as a result of their Champions League success from the previous season, in which Carlo Ancelotti's team defeated Liverpool 1-0.

In the meantime, Frankfurt qualified for the championship game for the first time in their history by defeating Rangers on penalties in the Europa League final. Real Madrid participated in the match for the eighth time and has now won the trophy for the fifth times, adding to their victories in 2002, 2014, 2016 and 2017, with goals from Alaba and Benzema in Helsinki.

The Los Blancos starting lineup from the Champions League final was retained, with Benzema joined in the final third of the field by Vinicius Junior, Federico Valverde, and Aurelien Tchouameni.

This is despite the addition of Antonio Rudiger and Aurelien Tchouameni to their roster over the summer. In the midfield, Casemiro, Toni Kroos, and Luka Modric lined up, with Dani Carvajal and Ferland Mendy at fullback and Eder Militao and Alaba lining up in front of Thibaut Courtois.

Frankfurt, who struggled to get going against Ancelotti's team for much of the match and could clearly see the talent gap between the two teams for the majority of the 90 minutes, was out of the game as soon as the second goal went in. While Frankfurt, who fell 6-1 to Bayern Munich in their Bundesliga debut last Friday,

They will resume their league season away to Hertha Berlin on Saturday, Real Madrid will begin their 2022-23 La Liga campaign away to Almeria on Sunday.

The Germans required Brazilian defender Tuta to make an outstanding goalline block to stop Vinicius after a deft Real move at the opposite end, but Japan striker Kamada was unable to beat Thibaut Courtois to give the Germans the lead.

In the attacking phase, Vinicius and Benzema have developed an almost telepathic rapport. They combined on the left to release the Brazilian, who then moved the ball to his right foot and compelled Trapp to make a long-range fingertip save.

Real's breakthrough came from the next corner in the 37th minute, when Alaba was given the easiest of close-range finishes.

The goal Benzema needed to surpass former captain Raul on the club's all-time scoring lists came in the 65th minute, albeit he came close to making it two with a flustered half-volley that was just wide of the mark.

He combined with Vinicius once more; this time, the young attacker found Benzema breaking free just inside the box, and the veteran beat Trapp with a quick shot to put Frankfurt out of the game.

Ancelotti, who last week indicated it was conceivable for Real to contend for all six competitions they are in this season, was able to give debuts to new acquisitions Antonio Rudiger and Aurelien Tchouameni after Casemiro had earlier curled against the bar from a distance.
