Christian Pulisic, a winger for Chelsea, is allegedly a target for Atletico Madrid this summer. In 136 games since moving to Chelsea from Borussia Dortmund in 2019, Pulisic has tallied 26 goals and 21 assists.
The American international, though, has had trouble securing a consistent spot in the starting lineup. Thus, in recent transfer windows, he has been linked with a departure from Stamford Bridge.
While playing in 21 competitive games this season, Pulisic has only started eight of them. He had one goal and two assists before getting hurt in the team's loss to Fulham last month.
According to a recent source, the 24-year-old is one of several players who may be permitted to leave the team this summer. The American international has last 18 months left on his deal with the Blues.
Under the ownership of Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital the London club has splashed a lot of cash. Chelsea have spent more than £600 million over the course of the last two transfer windows.
Last month, eight players were added, including Enzo Fernandez, who left Benfica for a British transfer record sum of €121 million (£107 million). Chelsea is trying to reduce the team in the summer after recruiting players. Thus, Pulisic is likely to be one of several players that leave Stamford Bridge.
Atletico Madrid is reportedly interested in signing the American at the end of the current campaign, according to Fichajes.
Although his contract does not include a buy option, Joao Felix is currently on loan from the La Liga team to Chelsea, and his long-term future at Atletico remains unclear.
As a result of rumours that Barcelona has the option to purchase Yannick Carrasco as part of the deal that brought Memphis Depay to Diego Simeone's team in January, Atletico may also lose him in the summer.
Atletico will need to reinforce in the final third if Felix and Carrasco do depart the Civitas Metropolitano at the end of the season, and Pulisic appears to be on their radar as a potential target.
Due to the additions of Noni Madueke and Mykhaylo Mudryk, Pulisic is expected to drop lower down the pecking order and is thought to be open to leaving Chelsea.
Tuesday's Champions League match between the Blues and Pulisic's previous team, Borussia Dortmund, will be played without the winger due to injury.
