Football News: Chelsea forward might leave Stamford Bridge at the end of this summer

According to reports, Kai Havertz's future at Chelsea is "uncertain," and the German international may leave Stamford Bridge during the summer transfer window.

The 23-year-old joined the Blues in September 2020 after leaving Bayer Leverkusen, and he has since made 119 appearances for the London side, registering 29 goals and 15 assists.

Havertz has been a vital player for the team since Graham Potter took over as head coach. He has six goals and one assist in 27 club appearances this season. The German's contract, which he signed upon his arrival, has more than two years remaining to run, but there are currently questions about what will happen to him in the English city.

Florian Plettenberg, a journalist for Sky Deutschland, claims that Havertz would leave Chelsea this summer if the Blues don't play in the Champions League next year. According to Plettenberg, the attacker might go for about €60 million (£52.8 million), and Bayern Munich is rumoured to have long-standing interest in the former Leverkusen youth.

"News #Havertz: His future at #CFC is uncertain! His departure in summer is possible. Decisive months could be May or June. Champions League next season is crucial for him. Price tag around €60m with possible bonus payments included,"

the journalist wrote on his official Twitter account.

Chelsea are now tenth in the Premier League standings, 10 points behind the top four, but if they win the European Cup this year, they might make the Champions League for the following season.

The club will be under pressure to make some significant sales during the summer market due to their excessive expenditure throughout the previous two transfer windows.

Dean Jones, a transfer expert, has expressed scepticism that Havertz will be one of the players to leave Potter's squad at the conclusion of the season.

"I don't think Kai Havertz will leave Chelsea anytime soon at all. They love him. They think he's a brilliant footballer; he is a brilliant footballer,"

Jones told GiveMeSport.

"I know that he probably gets a bit of a hard time because of his body language and his style of play, but that's just how he is. It's not that he's languid or lazy or anything like that. That is just how Havertz plays football."

Prior to moving to Stamford Bridge, Havertz played 150 games for Leverkusen, scoring 46 goals and dishing out 31 assists. He also made 33 appearances for Germany, scoring 12 goals and dishing out 11 assists.

Chelsea won't be back in action until the London derby with Fulham in the Premier League on February 3, after being eliminated from the FA Cup by Manchester City.
