Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Liverpool are reportedly keeping tabs on Bayer Leverkusen attacker Florian Wirtz's situation. After suffering a major knee injury in March 2022, the Germany international missed the first half of the current season.
Wirtz has subsequently returned to action, scoring two goals and giving six assists in 13 outings since the turn of the year. The Leverkusen forward has 21 goals and 28 assists in 91 games for Leverkusen in all competitions.
The German's excellent exploits have piqued the interest of several of Europe's top clubs, including Barcelona. There has previously been speculation that Barcelona have made contact with Wirtz's team;
However, the player has rejected any communication with the Catalan giants. Barcelona, along with Real Madrid and Liverpool, are still monitoring the teenager's situation, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The journalist goes on to say that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is a great fan of the 19-year-old. But, Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Liverpool may face more competition from the likes of Manchester City.
Moreover, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, Bayern Munich, and Borussia Dortmund are all interested in signing him.
Despite the fact that the teenager is being followed by a slew of clubs, there is said to be no clear front-runner at the moment.
Wirtz is under contract with Leverkusen until June 2027, and the club expects him to stay for at least one more season.
Germany will host Euro 2024, and it is expected that Wirtz will play for Leverkusen before considering a move after the tournament.
Wirtz, who has four international caps, is now training with the Germany side ahead of friendlies against Peru and Belgium.
With all elite clubs competing for the signatures of the 19-yuear-old it is tough to speculate who could win the race for the German wonderkid.
