Football News : Arsenal & Man United given major boost in pursuit of YouriTielemans

A significant boost has apparently been given to Arsenal and Manchester United in their pursuit of Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans. Due to the fact that he only has a year left on his contract, the 25-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from the King Power Stadium this summer.

According to reports, Tielemans has expressed his desire to join Arsenal this summer to pals. Moreover, the Belgian international is thought to have reached a personal agreement with Mikel Arteta's team.

Man United, who have a "real" and "increasing" interest in Tielemans, will present fierce competition for the Gunners in their pursuit of the midfielder. Though a complete agreement has been achieved between the Red Devils and the Catalan club, United have deemed the former Monaco player to be a "less complicated choice" than their top target Frenkie de Jong.

The Daily Telegraph claims that the Foxes may be forced to transfer first-team players, including the Belgian, this summer due to their financial difficulties, despite one report suggesting that Tielemans will likely stay at Leicester and complete the remainder of his contract.

According to the analysis, Leicester's wages-to-turnover ratio is "extremely high". Moreover, it is at an unsustainable level because the team has an excessive number of first-team players earning high salaries.

As the only Premier League team without a single signing this summer, Leicester will need to sell players. In order to balance their books before they can think about adding to their roster. The Foxes are presently expected to lose over £90 million as a result of financial fair play restrictions.

Due to the circumstances surrounding Tielemans' contract, it is believed that the Foxes will consider offers between £30 million and £35 million.

When questioned by media earlier this week, manager Brendan Rodgers declined to comment on rumours suggesting that Tielemans would leave the King Power Stadium.

"There's no update at all. He's an amazing guy to work with. He's just re-joined the club [for pre-season] and he's pretty much the same. In training he's very committed,";

said the Northern Irishman.

"He's happy in his work and he's happy at the club. But, naturally, with a year in his contract he may feel he has to look at everything for him and his family. But I certainly know he's committed while he is here."

"I'll have a good chat with Youri next week to get privately what he's thinking. But it won't change, whether he's leaving or staying for another five years, he'll still be super committed."

While all is going on, Tielemans hasn't ruled out the possibility of leaving the Foxes this summer, telling reporters earlier this season:

"[An exit] is not out of the question. I feel very good at Leicester, I was welcomed with open arms from day one. I give everything for the club until the last day."

"But of course you have to listen to other opportunities, you have to look at your career, and sometimes you have to make choices. Maybe one will come my way."

Tielemans first joined Leicester from Monaco on loan in 2019 before joining the club permanently a year later. Since then, he has made 158 appearances in all competitions, with 24 goals and 24 assists.
