Football: Beating Leipzig vital confidence-builder for the rest of the season

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said on Sunday that Wednesday's Champions League Last 16 second leg tie against RB Leipzig at Anfield is an opportunity for his side to build confidence for the rest of the season. The English champions have endured an alarming drop in form since they thrashed Crystal Palace 7-0 on 19th December. In 14 subsequent Premier League games, Liverpool have won just three times and picked up only 12 points. They have also lost their last six games at home - including Sunday's 1-0 defeat by relegation-threatened Fulham - in a run that would have been unthinkable at the start of the season. However, on 16th February, goals from Mo Salah and Sadio Mane gave Klopp's men a 2-0 win against Leipzig in Budapest and with that advantage, Klopp is hoping for a morale-boosting progression to the quarter-finals
