Anfield remained empty on the day when Liverpool could have clinched the English Premier League title. Saturday 21st March was supposed to be a day of celebration for Liverpool, the day when the club finally ended the long wait for a league title. The club was scheduled to host Crystal Palace at Anfield and would have mathematically secured the Premier League title. But instead, the stadium's turnstiles closed, surrounding streets quiet and local pubs had their shutters down. Like nearly every major league in Europe, the Premier League has now been suspended because of the coronavirus pandemic.
