AC Milan returned to second spot in the Serie A table following a crucial 2-0 win at home to Benevento on Saturday evening. After back-to-back defeats and subsequently dropping out of the top four for the first time this season, the pressure was on head coach Stefano Pioli and his players, but goals from Hakan Calhanoglu and Theo Hernandez gave a huge boost to their Champions League ambitions. Zlatan Ibrahimovic was repelled by Benevento goalkeeper Lorenzo Montipo on three separate occasions as the Swedish play maker marked his return to action. Although Milan have now climbed above Juventus, Napoli and Atalanta into second, their rivals have yet to play this weekend. Benevento lie third from bottom in 18th place.
