After signing an attacker and a defensive player the Blues have now also went on to sign a midfielder. Thomas Tuchel has already started taking his squad depth into consideration before the long season starts.
A deal to sign teenage sensation Carney Chukwuemeka to a long-term contract has been announced by Chelsea and Aston Villa. As his contract is entering its final year, the 18-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from Villa Park this summer.
Numerous elite European teams, including Barcelona, AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal, Manchester City, and Manchester United, are said to have been made aware of Chukwuemeka's predicament.
Chelsea, who won the battle to sign the midfielder, announced on their official website and social media outlets that a deal had been achieved.
A short statement read:
"Aston Villa and Chelsea can confirm that the clubs have reached an agreement for the permanent transfer of Carney Chukwuemeka."
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chukwuemeka will fly to London on Tuesday evening, where he will receive his medical on Wednesday before being announced as a new signing later this week.

Additionally, according to Romano, Chelsea will pay Villa about £15 million plus add-ons for the highly regarded midfielder. While Carney Chukwuemeka will sign a six-year contract which will keep him at Stamford Bridge until June 2028.
Chukwuemeka began his junior football career with Northampton Town before switching to Aston Villa in the summer of 2016. He is to be Chelsea's third summer acquisition following Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly.
The midfielder originally showed his talent with Villa's Under-18s, scoring 10 goals and dishing out 8 assists in 26 games. He then advanced to the Under-23s, where he recorded three goals and 5 assists in 28 games.
Chukwuemeka was given his professional debut by Dean Smith in May 2021, coming in as a substitute in a 2-1 away victory over Tottenham Hotspur, before winning Aston Villa's Academy Player of the Season title for the 2020-21 season.
Since then, Chukwuemeka has made 16 appearances for Steven Gerrard's senior team in all competitions, including 12 last season in the Premier League.
The midfielder, who was born in Austria, has also excelled for England at the international level and this summer helped the Under-19s win the European Championships.
In five appearances at the Slovakian competition, Chukwuemeka recorded three goals and two assists, including a goal in extra time to help the Young Lions defeat Israel 3-1.
