Cycling: Tejay van Garderen won individual time trial prologue in the Tour of Utah

The 2018 Tour of Utah got underway on Monday with a 5.3-kilometre individual time trial in the city of St. George. As the two-time reigning American time trial champion, Joey Rosskopf was expected to knock his BMC Racing team-mate Bohli off the top of the timesheets. Rosskopf duly moved into the provisional lead, clocking a time of six minutes, 31.25 seconds. However, Rosskopf himself would be supplanted by another of his team-mates - Tejay van Garderen. In a performance that underlined his intent to claim a maiden Tour of Utah title, van Garderen bettered Rosskopf's time by 3.76 seconds.
