Britain's Simon Yates won stage 12 of the Tour de France on Thursday - as Frenchman Julian Alaphilippe retained the yellow jersey. Yates, riding for Mitchelton-Scott, won a sprint duel with Astana's Pello Bilbao and Gregor Muhlberger from BORA-Hansgrohe at the end of the 209.5-kilometre stage from Toulouse to Bagneres-de-Bigorre. It was Yates's first stage in in the race and completes his set of stage wins at the Grand Tours, having won at the Giro d'Italia and Vuelta a Espana. Alaphilippe retained his overall 72-second lead over defending champion Geraint Thomas - ahead of Friday's time trial in Pau.
