Cycling: Jakub Mareczko claimed victory on stage three of the Tour of Taihu Lake in China

Jakub Mareczko won a bunch sprint finish on stage three of the Tour of Taihu Lake on Wednesday. The 88.5-kilometre route through Jinhu was relatively flat which favoured the sprinters and the prospect of a bunch finish. A crash early on involved several riders, including Hayato Okamoto, Remy Rochas and Yakob Debesay. Apart from that early incident, the stage was characterised by a four-man breakaway of Burgos BH's Angel Fuentes Paniego, Delko Marseille Provence KTM's Robin Meyer, Jelly Belly P/B Maxxis' Keegan Swirbul and Ljubljana Gusto Xaurum's Benjamin Hill. The quartet's lead was whittled down over the remaining 30 kilometres by the peloton. They were finally caught on the long straight to the finish. In the ensuing sprint to the line, Juan Sebastian Molano looked on course for a third consecutive stage win, but the fast-chasing Jakub Mareczko had other ideas. The Wilier Triestina-Selle Italia rider timed his burst of pace to perfection as he took the stage victory from Boris Vallee and Molano. Vallee remained out in front in the general classification - 12 seconds ahead of Benjamin Dyball and Alexander Cataford.
