Boxing: Canelo Alvarez to battle against Callum Smith in December

Mexican professional boxer Canelo Alvarez will face British pugilist Callum Smith, who is unbeaten in his professional career, for the WBA world super-middleweight title on December 19. The mega-fight will happen in the United States next month. Canelo’s team will confirm the venue very soon. The 30-year-old boxer will fight for the first time since outdoing Russia’s Sergey Kovalev in November 2019. Matchroom’s Smith had a tough outing against John Ryder in a 12-round classical contest in November last year. Many boxing pundits and fans were saying that Ryder won the fight against Smith. In September 2016, Canelo defeated Callum’s brother Liam Smith for the WBO light middleweight title. Other than Floyd Mayweather, no other pugilist has defeated Canelo in his professional career. Before agreeing to fight Smith, Canelo was heavily linked to battle against Caleb Plant.
