Zenit St Petersburg beat Maccabi Tel Aviv 78-72 in round 17 of Euroleague on Tuesday (29th December). Leading 37-35 at the halfway stage, the visitors outscored their opponents 25-17 in the third quarter to pull further ahead. Maccabi closed the gap in the final 10 minutes, but it wasn't enough. Scottie Wilbekin top-scored in the match for Maccabi with 18 points. Alex Poythress led the way for Zenit with 16 points. Zenit improved to 10-5, moving up to fourth in the Euroleague standings. Maccabi - on 7-10 - stay 12th.
