Basketball: LeBron James open to playing in Tokyo Olympics despite tight NBA schedule

LeBron James is open to playing for Team USA at the Tokyo Summer Olympics, but said the NBA schedule will play a major factor in his decision to go for a third gold medal. James was on the list of 57 finalists announced on Thursday by USA Basketball that will make up the American men's team that will defend its Olympic title in Tokyo. But if James and the defending champion Lakers were to make this year's NBA Finals, a possible seventh game would take place on July 22nd, just one day before the Opening Ceremonies in Tokyo. He said playing in Tokyo would depend on how he was feeling at the end of the season. Tokyo would be the fourth Olympics for James, who won gold medals in Beijing in 2008 and London in 2012 after winning bronze at the 2004 Athens games. James missed the 2016 Rio Olympics due to injury.
