Motorsport: Ott Tanak builds big lead on day one of WRC Arctic Rally Finland

Hyundai driver Ott Tanak holds the overnight lead after the first day of the Arctic Rally Finland, the second round of the World Rally Championship 2021. A late substitute for the traditional Rally Sweden, which was abandoned due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, day one of the Arctic Rally consisted of two 31-kilometre passes through Sarriojarvi - one of the longest stages of the event. The first pass was during daylight, the second with headlamps ablaze. Estonian Tanak, the 2019 drivers' champion, secured a 16-second overall lead over second-placed Irishman and team-mate Craig Breen, with home hero Kalle Rovanpera 20.4 seconds adrift in his Toyota. Belgian's Thierry Neuville lies fourth, championship leader Sebastien Ogier almost 50 seconds off the pace in ninth.
