Motorsport: Al-Rajhi takes Stage 7 victory as Peterhansel extends overall lead

Overdrive Toyota driver Yazeed Al-Rajhi overcame the X-raid Mini of Stephane Peterhansel to claim a maiden stage win in the Dakar Rally on Sunday. Peterhansel led much of the 453-km (281 miles) Stage 7 between Ha'il and Sakaka. But a broken wishbone on his Mini buggy allowed home hero Al-Rajhi to come through and take a narrow 48-second victory. Peterhansel, who retains the overall lead, ended the stage 27 seconds clear of third-placed Carlos Sainz. In the bikes category, Ricky Brabec scored his first stage win of the 2021 rally while Honda teammate Jose Ignacio Cornejo snatched the overall lead from KTM rival Toby Price. Dmitry Sotnikov posted the fastest time in Sunday's special in the trucks section to claim his fifth stage win this year.
